Ula Restaurant & Tapas Bar
About This Spot
Stepping into Ula Restaurant & Tapas Bar is like slipping into a quietly sophisticated hideaway nestled in the heart of bustling San Francisco. The moment you arrive, the atmosphere welcomes you with its warm embrace — a blend of refined elegance and approachable comfort that feels thoughtfully curated but never fussy. The art deco-inspired interior, with its rich textures and tasteful details, creates a mood that invites you to slow down, savor the moment, and lose yourself in good company and great conversation.
Ula strikes a delicate balance between the lively spirit of a tapas bar and the intimate charm of a Mediterranean-inspired dining experience. The pace here is unhurried yet animated, filled with the gentle hum of shared plates and clinking glasses. Whether you find yourself nestled at a quiet corner table or sharing a long communal table, the setting encourages a sense of connection — both with the food and the people around you.
The menu reads like a journey along the Mediterranean coast, offering a harmonious mix of small plates and heartier dishes that invite exploration. The ingredients speak of the sea and the earth — fresh seafood, grilled meats, handmade pasta — each plate crafted with care and a nod to tradition, yet presented with a subtle contemporary flair. It’s the kind of place where a perfectly cooked sesame-crusted tuna or a vibrant seafood paella doesn’t just fill you up; it grounds you in the pleasure of thoughtful, honest food.
For those who linger into the evening, the cocktail bar adds another layer to the experience, with carefully mixed drinks that complement rather than overpower. It’s easy to imagine settling in over a glass of something smooth and seasonal, watching the soft lighting shift as conversations deepen and the night unfolds.
Ula feels at once distinctly San Francisco and comfortably timeless — a place where attentive service meets a quietly confident culinary vision. Here, food is more than a meal; it’s a way to gather and create moments that stay with you long after you step back out onto Post Street.

I had the most wonderful first visit to Ula while traveling through San Francisco. We ordered the tuna steak, and it was absolutely divine – perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The entire menu felt so thoughtfully curated, and every bite was exceptional. The interior is stunning – sophisticated, warm, and inviting – making the whole experience even more special. The staff were attentive and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. I can’t wait to return on my next trip to San Francisco. Highly recommend Ula for anyone looking for exquisite food and a beautiful dining atmosphere!

Ula Restaurant - A True Gem in San Francisco! I recently dined at Ula and had an absolutely incredible experience. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the warm ambiance and chic decor, setting the perfect mood for a memorable evening. The food? Simply outstanding. Every dish was a delightful fusion of flavors – from the fresh, inventive appetizers to the beautifully presented main courses. The attention to detail in both taste and presentation was truly impressive. But what really made the night unforgettable was our waiter, Casey. Casey’s impeccable service and genuine enthusiasm elevated our dining experience to a whole new level. Attentive without being intrusive, he guided us through the menu with insightful recommendations and made us feel truly welcome. It’s rare to find someone who genuinely loves what they do, and it showed in every interaction. Ula is definitely a spot I’ll return to, not just for the amazing food but for the exceptional service. Huge thanks to Casey for making our lunch extra special! #SanFranciscoEats #UlaRestaurant #GreatService #FoodieFinds

Gorgeous place with very scrumptious food. We arrived early and we're promptly seated. The service was excellent. Had a lovely champagne cocktail with some fun appetizers, like chicken pasty, eggplant and crab cakes. Each dish was delicious and very well served. Dinner was branzino, salmon and scallops. The dishes were excellent, taste and presentation wise. Ended with a chocolate mousse. I loved the romantic vibe of this place. It was classy, the service was awesome with very thoughtful servers and the food was the best. Loved the sauces they used on the food as it had hints of mint and spices. Also many spots to click beautiful photos. Overall, a must visit.

Is advertised as a Tapas restaurant. Very nice decor that makes you feel under the see. Parking may be an issue. Use public transport if you can. The food was OK. Most probably won't be back.

The atmosphere and decoration of this restaurant is definitely one of a kind. The original lamps and decorations make you think you are under the sea. Our waiter was really kind and nice. The drink I got was a non-alcoholic one - I can’t remember the name and couldn’t find it on online menu, but it was delicious. Definitely sweet, but a great treat! We ordered a few differents things from the menu to share. Like the scallops that were delicious. The truffle fries were very good. We had a salad that had nice seasoning (can’t remember what it was). Then, we got some main plates. I got the salmon that was also great. A lot of different flavors. The desserts might have been actually my favorite thing of my experience, I really loved the tiramisu, the creme brulée and the bread pudding. Overall, the food was good, but nothing outstanding in my opinion. It was a great experience nonetheless, just not somewhere I would necessarily go back to. However, the desserts were really good and was a great way to end the meal!

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant during brunch. The food was absolutely delicious, and I really enjoyed sitting at the bar — the atmosphere was great and very comfortable. Our waitress, Marina, was extremely attentive and made me feel very welcome, giving me a lot of personal attention throughout the visit. The presentation of both the food and the dessert was outstanding — everything looked and tasted amazing. I truly enjoyed my time here and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!
